Congratulations to Mia Wilson - Insurance Business Rising Star
CHU is thrilled to announce that Mia Wilson, Team Leader of the Direct Portfolio, has been recognised as an Insurance Business Rising Star! This award celebrates her outstanding contributions to the industry and her commitment to customer service, sustainability and leadership.
As a young professional, Mia leads a dedicated team of customer service agents and underwriters who support CHU’s direct customers, ensuring decisions are aligned with CHU’s customer-first approach. Mia empowers her team to meet and exceed customer expectations and service standards. Her proactive approach to leadership has driven a focus on making sound, agile decisions, which is especially valuable in a rapidly evolving insurance landscape.
In addition to leading her team, Mia is pursuing an MBA, aiming to strengthen her adaptability and strategic thinking. “The ability to respond proactively to industry shifts and emerging challenges is essential,” she says, highlighting her commitment to continued learning and professional growth.
A key part of Mia’s work has been her involvement in industry-wide initiatives addressing sustainable business decisions and ongoing innovative thinking. Her recent work as part of CHU’s Future Forum, was to develop a new insurance product aimed at meeting the needs of customers who require accessible and inclusive solutions. “Through working with lot owners, I saw firsthand that traditional insurance policies can sometimes fall short of the nuanced needs of vulnerable customers,” Mia shares. She led the project from a coverage and risk perspective, providing insights into the wants and needs of potentially vulnerable subsets of communities.
Mia is also part of CHU’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) team. CHU won the 2024 ANZIIF Award for Excellence in Environmental, Social and Governance Change. Mia plays an integral part of CHU mapping out strategies for CHU to meet their net-zero target. She envisions a future where the insurance sector integrates environmental impact as a priority, saying,
“Over the next five years, I hope to see the insurance industry embrace sustainability as a core principle, integrating environmental impact into its operations and partnerships.”
