NAIDOC Week celebrated during CHU’s nationwide Connection Day
National NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia in the first week of July each year (Sunday to Sunday), to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. The 2023 theme for NAIDOC week was “For Our Elders”.
This NAIDOC Week CHU Underwriting Agencies Pty Ltd held connection days around Australia where our teams were able to reflect on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture. A special thanks to our CHU team member, Victoria Garamy Longbottom, for bringing in some special items from her home for us to enjoy and sharing her personal connection.
We were thrilled to host Mark Heiss from the GO Foundation in our Sydney office yesterday. The GO Foundation (founded by Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin) provides education scholarships to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from primary school through to university. The GO Foundation is one of CHU’s Charity partners for 2023 so it was wonderful to have Mark come and speak to our team and share more about the GO Foundations' vision and mission.
