National Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2022

National Reconciliation Week (NRW), from 27 May to 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the reconciliation journey— the successful 1967 referendum, and the High Court Mabo decision respectively.

The 2022 NRW theme is - “Be Brave. Make Change.” It is a challenge to all Australians— individuals, families, communities, organisations and government— to be strong, be determined, be proud, be bold, be the difference - so together we can make a more just, equitable and reconciled Australia. It is about making changes in our daily lives – where we live, work, play and socialise.

Don’t know where to start? Here are some important actions that we can all take every day of the year, not just during National Reconciliation Week: https://nrw.reconciliation.org.au/2022-actions-to-make-change/.

This National Reconciliation Week, CHU Underwriting Agencies, has committed to formally adopt the Uluru Statement from the Heart and commit to a Reconciliation Action Plan. Since 2006, Reconciliation Action Plans (RAPs) have enabled organisations to sustainably and strategically take meaningful action to advance reconciliation. Based around the core pillars of relationshipsrespect and opportunities, RAPs provide tangible and substantive benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, increasing economic equity and supporting First Nations self-determination.

"Action on reconciliation with our first nations people is gaining momentum and I am proud to continue that momentum through supporting the Uluru Statement and creating a Reconciliation Action Plan", Kimberley Jonsson CHU Underwriting Agencies CEO
